EOC Legal Team Ordered to Investigate unfair Treatment of Tenants by Accede Landlords in Kampala.

The Equal Opportunities Commission convened a session to address complaints raised by alleged marginalized tenants operating from business Accedes in Kampala which include; Galilaya, GazaLand, and Grand Corner.

Over 100 tenants operating from the above mentioned business Accedes in Kampala lodged complaints before EOC against owners, citing marginalizing practices and unfair treatment.

The session was presided over by Commission Member Habiibu Sseruwagi.

During a heated session, Member Habiibu directed the Commission’s technical team to conduct a thorough ground investigations over allegations to establish the facts surrounding the claims of marginalization and prepare a fully furnished report to the respective parties before the end of March 2026.

The Equal Opportunities Commission is a statutory body established by an Act of Parliament to effectuate Article 32(3) and Article 32 (4) of the Constitution of Uganda. The Equal Opportunities Commission is mandated to eliminate discrimination and inequalities against any individual or group of persons on the ground of sex, age, race, colour, ethnic origin, tribe, birth, creed or religion, health status, social or economic standing, political opinion or disability, and take affirmative action in favor of groups marginalised on the basis of gender, age, disability or any other reason created by history, tradition or custom for the purpose of redressing imbalances which exist against them, and to provide for other related matters.
